Chapter 1012

chapter1012

Every head turned as the newcomer strode into the room.

She was dressed to kill, her makeup layered on thick and flawless.

Her eyelashes, long and artificial, fluttered like miniature fans atop her eyes with each blink.

Her lips, painted the same color as her dress, seemed ready for the stage rather than the understated

elegance of the antique collectors' soiree she had just entered.

In an instant, she was the center of everyone's attention.

"Hey everyone, my name’s Susan. Thrilled to be here with you all tonight at this lovely gathering. This

is my assistant." Susan said, lifting her dress slightly and waving with a beaming smile. "We'll be

mingling in a bit, so let's trade digits on WhatsApp and make some connections."

Trailing behind her was a man in casual wear, his relaxed attire a stark contrast to her glamorous get-

up.

The man quickly whipped out his phone. He approached the intrigued businessmen, eager for

connections.

Some, out of politeness, obliged; others turned on their heel and walked away.

Susan didn't mind. Each new contact was a potential opportunity.

She had heard through the grapevine that the Draven Group was hosting an antique collectors' mixer

at the Draven International Hotel. Knowing the Dravens were tight with Lysander, she was hoping that

Lysander would be there as well. So, there she was, hunting for a chance to meet him.

Dressed to the nines, she was a siren among sailors, ready to draw in the attention. Whether or not

Lysander was in attendance, she was determined to leave with a bevy of new contacts.

Susan flitted from guest to guest with her assistant busy networking.

Thalassa recognized Susan. She diverged her sight indifferently and grabbed a bottle of wine from the

liquor cabinet.

On the other side, Susan’s eyes scanned all over the hall for Lysander. Soon, disappointment settled in

as her search proved fruitless. But just as she was about to give up hope, she caught a glimpse of

Thalassa's slender silhouette.

Susan's smile withered, her gaze hardened, and she made a beeline for Thalassa.

Thalassa, on her way back to the private room, found her path suddenly blocked by the heavily made-

up Susan.

Thalassa's guard went up immediately, her expression icy. "A good dog doesn't get in the way!"

"A dog? Your whole family's nothing but dogs!" Susan retorted, her anger boiling over.

"Did I name you? If the shoe fits, wear it." Thalassa shot back, giving Susan a frosty glance before

attempting to sidestep her.

"Stop right there!" Susan blocked her path again, imperious.

"That wine's for Lysander, isn't it?" Susan asserted confidently. If Thalassa was here, Lysander had to

be here too.

It seemed her luck was turning.

"What business is it of yours who I'm taking this wine to?" Thalassa sneered, eyeing her with disgust

before turning to leave.

"You can ignore me all you want, but I can just call my dad and have that video released right now."

Susan threatened, her voice cold.

Thalassa froze. A chill ran down her spine, anger flaring inside her.

Her breath quickened as she trembled with rage.

Bruce and his daughter were relentless with their video threats!

She wanted nothing more than to smash the wine bottle over Susan's head and be done with her.

But she couldn't.

With a deep breath, Thalassa's rage was momentarily quelled by rationality. She turned back to Susan,

her eyes burning with suppressed fury. "What do you want from me?"
