chapter1024
Evelyn's gaze was fixated on the man's retreating figure as he slipped into a room. The door was left
ajar; he seemed to have forgotten to shut it.
His silhouette vanished from Evelyn's sight, snapping her out of her trance. She turned on her heel and
continued down the hallway in search of room 2809.
She hadn't taken more than a few steps when a commotion erupted behind her. Glancing back, she
saw a woman in a garish outfit stumbling out of a room — directly opposite to the one the man had
entered.
The woman's attire was both flashy and seductive, her nervousness betraying her as her breast tapes
almost fell. She was quite the sight, with her breasts practically on display.
Evelyn recognized her instantly despite the layered make up.
It was Susan! She was Bruce and Lucy's daughter, who had come to Evelyn's place with her mother, all
high and mighty, to pick a fight!
Evelyn was truly enraged as she saw her.
She was about to confront her, ready to settle old scores.
Before she could approach, Susan, flushed and panting, clutched the hem of her dress and darted into
the room opposite — the very same one the man had entered.
Susan was desperate to soothe her physical urges with a man. But Lysander, not only cast her out but
also kicked her brutally. Her soul felt as though it might split from the pain.
If she couldn't have Lysander, she would settle for Joshua!
This man was Lysander's business partner, so he surely would not be lack in wealth or power. Despite
being older, he was easy on the eyes.
Seizing Joshua wouldn't be a loss for her.
Without hesitation, Susan entered Joshua's room.
Evelyn froze and was shocked as she watched Susan slip into the room.
What was Susan doing in there with that man? Could it be that she was...
Evelyn crept closer and craned her neck to catch a glimpse inside the room.
But she couldn't see anything with the entryway blocking the view.
"Mr. Joshua, you're drunk. Please let me take care of you." Susan's voice echoed from within, sultry
and feigned weakness. "I'm very good at taking care... in all sorts of positions..."
Evelyn's skin crawled, and a wave of revulsion chilled her to the bone. She straightened up quickly and
distanced herself from the room.
How astounded and incredulous — Susan was doing that with this man!
Just like her father, utterly shameless!
Evelyn's breath was ragged, her chest tight with indignation. She had never imagined that this man
could be so vile!
Angrily, she glanced at the room number. It was 2806!
She looked back at the room Susan had emerged from in disarray. It was 2809!
Wasn't Thalassa supposed to be in 2809?
That was the room she was searching for.
The door was open; Evelyn walked straight in and began, "Excuse me, is this where..."
"Get out!" An explosive growl, seething with anger and intimidation, struck her ears like the roar of a
lion.
Evelyn recoiled. Her mind reeled as she bolted toward the elevator, and her heart pounded with fear.
Thankful she could recognize the voice as a man's — and as Lysander's; otherwise, she might have
thought there was a beast ready to devour her lurking in that room.
She stepped into the elevator and frantically pressed the close button as if a single second's delay
would cost her life.
As the doors slid shut. Evelyn pressed the button for the ground floor and patted her chest to quell the
adrenaline.
Was Lysander also in 2809? Could Thalassa be with him?
Then why did Susan run out of their room?
Evelyn's mind swirled with questions, none of which she could answer.
She had come to the hotel seeking Thalassa, but instead, she found herself witness to a skin-crawling
scene and terrified by Lysander, from which her heart nearly leaped out of her chest.
