Chapter 1071

chapter1071

It was David who had told Amelia that Lysander was at the hospital for Thalassa, and it was also him

giving away the hospital’s address.

Amelia had called in a frenzy, insisting she had urgent business with Lysander, about Lysander.

Concerned with the urgency of the situation, David had divulged the hospital's whereabouts.

He thought he had simply mentioned Lysander's whereabouts to a member of the Sinclair clan, not

foreseeing the trouble it would stir.

"Wouldn’t interfere, you say? Well then, heading off to work in Afriland for a month shouldn't be an

interference either. Pack your bags and leave today!" Lysander's handsome face was a mask of

thunderous fury, a chilling aura surrounding him that felt like it could freeze a man solid. His words left

no room for debate; they were a decree.

David was taken aback, inwardly rebelling against the idea.

Afriland was notorious for its harsh environment and instability. Heading there was tantamount to

signing up for a month of suffering.

It was clear Mr. Sinclair was punishing him.

David panicked, but he dared not question Lysander about his mistake. Mr. Sinclair was in a towering

rage, and any word from David might just make his punishment all the more severe.

"Yes, sir. I'll book my flight immediately." David managed to say, quickly nodding his acquiescence.

With a dismissive wave of his hand, Lysander sent David scurrying out of the office. Only once he was

in the hallway did David realize his back was drenched in sweat, beads of perspiration dotting his

forehead.

Wiping the sweat from his brow, David felt a flush of embarrassment. He wondered for the umpteenth

time what Thalassa had done to ruffle Mr. Sinclair's feathers this time. Whenever she stirred the pot, he

was the one who got burnt.

He couldn't count the number of times he'd been dragged into Thalassa's messes. He must be the

most unfortunate assistant ever.

The boss had a lover's quarrel, and instead of taking it out on his girlfriend, he took it out on his right-

hand man.

David wept without tears. He was indeed a hapless soul.

Back in his office, David hastily booked his ticket and started packing for Afriland. The trip was

unavoidable if he wanted to quell Mr. Sinclair's wrath.

As he packed, David dialed Thalassa's number. The call rang for a while before she picked up.

Thalassa was surprised to hear from David at such an hour.

"David, what can I do for you?" she asked, her tone light and tinged with humor.

Thalassa had always been good at managing her emotions. Over the years, she had faced countless

setbacks, each day a struggle. If she had been faint-hearted, life's burdens would have crushed her

long ago.

But her optimism and self-regulation had always kept her spirits high, enabling her to find joy amid the

hardships. She believed that everything else was trivial in the grand scheme of life, and that there was

no obstacle too great to overcome.

"Guess where I'm off to?" David said, trying to keep the conversation light.

"What would I be awarded with if I guess right?" Thalassa asked playfully.

"Can’t believe you’re in the mood to talk about prizes." David was taken aback but managed a laugh.

He had assumed that with the boss in such a foul mood, the entire company would be under a cloud of

gloom and that Thalassa, at the very least, would be also miserable. Yet here she was, speaking

breezily, seemingly unbothered by it all.

"Why should I be down? Is there something I'm supposed to be upset about?" Thalassa asked him in

return.

Her response amused David. He couldn't help but release a chuckle and felt relaxed a bit.

"I'm packing for Afriland." he confessed, dropping the guessing game.

"Oh, well, bon voyage!" Thalassa responded without missing a beat, her voice devoid of any surprise

as she wished him well on his journey.
