Chapter 1246

chapter1246

Spencer knew full well that Hertha was looking for an excuse to hurry him out the door, but he feigned

ignorance, insisting on staying for breakfast purely to discuss marriage plans with Hertha's parents.

Despite his scholarly appearance, calm and gentle demeanor, Spencer had a penchant for lively

company and distinctive personalities.

Demure, quiet girls didn't appeal to him. His own personality was reserved. His work life was already a

monotonous two-point routine, dull and uneventful.

If his wife were to share his temperament, life would be utterly tasteless.

But someone like Hertha, with her vivacious and carefree nature, was the sort of girl who can catch his

eye.

On their blind date, when she mentioned how she loved hitting the bars for a drink or going on

shopping sprees, Spencer paused for a moment—not out of fear but attraction.

He had braced himself for another inefficient matchmaking attempt, only to find an interesting girl who

didn't bother with pretenses or play the sophisticate.

Even today in the park, Hertha didn't hide a thing, openly sharing how she had gotten drunk at the bar

the previous night and crashed at a nearby hotel.

Her candor was a surprise to Spencer, and it piqued his interest even further.

He had expected her to dodge his questions with some flimsy excuse, like the other girls who were

keen to protect their image and save face at any cost.

But not Hertha. She was forthright and unfiltered. And Spencer admired that honesty all the more.

When he had asked Hertha why she was at the park, he had already guessed that the scent of alcohol

on her meant she had been drinking, given the proximity of a nearby bar.

Hertha's response confirmed his suspicions, and what surprised Spencer was her lack of a child's fib to

gloss over the facts. She was straightforward about it.

"Alright, if you like it, that's what matters. Let's eat."

Upon hearing Spencer's declaration of his type of girl, Kimberly and Ashton exchanged a knowing look.

It was hard to hide the joy and excitement in the eyes of the elderly couple.

Finally, someone appreciated their daughter's fiery and straightforward character instead of finding fault

with it.

They were over the moon.

Kimberly cheerfully beckoned Spencer to take a seat at the dining table.

Spencer remained composed, the very picture of refinement. Even when slighted by Hertha, he didn't

take offense. Instead, he sat down peacefully for the breakfast with her parents.

This only made Hertha's parents all the more approving.

...

"Did you sleep with Georgia last night, huh?" Angelina's words were blunt and sharp, cutting straight to

the chase.

Overhearing this sensitive conversation, the servants discreetly bowed their heads and scattered from

the dining area, busying themselves elsewhere to avoid the wrath that might spill over onto them. New

"Ouch! Mom, let go!" Alaric winced in pain, raising his hands in a surrendering gesture.
