chapter1281
Lysander leapt gracefully, landing on the deck with the ease of a cat afterwards.
Having been submerged for a tad too long, Evelyn was dazed and coughing, her consciousness
muddled by the water.
"Mom, how are you feeling?" Thalassa's voice trembled as she saw her mother's distress, tears
streaming down her cheeks.
She placed her hands on Evelyn's chest, pressing down rhythmically, trying to expel the swallowed
water.
Despite feeling weak and drained from fear, Thalassa summoned all her strength to perform CPR on
Evelyn.
Lysander watched as Thalassa sobbed and pressed on her mother's chest, her legs shaking
uncontrollably. He pushed Thalassa aside and took over.
After a couple of compressions, Evelyn sputtered out the water, her coughing growing more forceful.
"Mom, you're awake. You scared me to death." Thalassa's legs gave out, and she knelt beside Evelyn,
her face pale with tears.
"Thalassa..." Seeing her daughter, Evelyn was instantly overwhelmed by emotions. The brush with
death had shaken her to the core, and the relief of waking was palpable.
"Mom..." Thalassa couldn't hold back her emotions any longer and wrapped her arms tightly around
Evelyn.
She had been terrified of losing her mother. This trip was meant to be a pleasant getaway, a chance for
Evelyn to relax.
If it had ended in tragedy, Thalassa would forgive herself.
Evelyn cried too, fully aware of her daughter's fear. She held Thalassa close, her tears mingling with
her daughter's.
Lysander stood up, his towering figure casting a protective shadow over the embracing pair.
His deep-set eyes, damp from the rescue, seemed cold yet profound.
Callum stood to the side, his worry also palpable. He had felt helpless during the crisis, hindered by his
injured arm and leg.
Then Lysander's gaze met Callum's. There was a mix of defiance and a trace of dark clouds in
Callum's eyes.
Lysander's gaze was firm and icy, a strong beam that seemed to repel all darkness.
Callum broke the intense eye contact first, turning to look at Thalassa and Evelyn instead.
"Mom, are you sure you're okay? Should we go to the hospital just in case?" Thalassa's concern was
evident as she propped up Evelyn's shoulders.
Evelyn wiped away her tears and reassured her daughter. "I'm fine, darling. No need for a hospital visit.
Don't worry."
"Mom, let's go back to land. It's too dangerous out here." Thalassa said, helping Evelyn to her feet.
As they stood, Thalassa's eyes met Lysander's deep-set ones.

"Thank you for saving my mom," Thalassa said to Lysander.
After speaking, she averted her gaze and helped Evelyn to a seat on the side.
