Chapter 2112

chapter2110

Magnus knelt down beside Denise and comforted her softly, "Don't be too sad. Mr. and Mrs. Laney will surely be fine. Let's keep looking. You can't let yourself be overwhelmed with sadness, or you won't have the strength to continue searching for them."

Hearing his words, Denise slowly calmed down. "Right, I need to stay calm. I have to stay calm."

"That's right." Magnus nodded. "Let's go; we'll keep looking."

"Okay," Denise replied. Fresh chapters posted on find·novel·net

However, Magnus only managed to take a few steps forward before his vision darkened suddenly, and he collapsed forward.

Denise reacted quickly, preventing him from falling directly onto the ground by grabbing his arm.

"Magnus," Denise called out to him.

Magnus answered groggily, "Yeah?"

"You almost fell just now." Denise's eyes were filled with anxiety and worry.

Magnus rubbed his head. "Huh? I didn't notice. Maybe I didn't get enough rest. Come on, let's keep looking for them."

Seeing him in such a daze, Denise dared not let him continue the search.

"Let's head back and take a break for now. You haven't had much rest in the past few days," Denise urged.

Magnus had been spending his days chatting with Brycen and Calliope and working at night.

"I'm fine—I don't need a break." Magnus was still trying to be tough, but his eyelids were already drooping.

Denise stopped wasting her breath to persuade him. "No, you have to come back with me now and rest."

She then proceeded to drag Magnus home.

After arriving home, Denise said to Magnus, "Get some rest now. I'll report my parents' disappearance to the police. Come find me when you're well-rested, okay?"

Magnus also felt that he was running on empty, so he didn't argue further, nodding. "Okay, I got it."

"Good," Denise said.

Only then did she feel relieved enough to leave.

Magnus collapsed straight onto the couch and quickly fell asleep.

It wasn't until midnight, when he heard the sound of the door opening, that he woke up from his dream.

Turning his head, he saw that Denise had returned. "Did you find Mr. and Mrs. Laney?"

Denise lowered her head, her eyes filled with sadness. "Not yet. I don't know how they managed to avoide the surveillance cameras. We searched all the surveillance footage hearby but didn't see any sign of them."

"Then what do we do now?" Magnus felt helpless, too.

Denise was no longer crying.

She sat down on a chair, her gaze falling on the dining area, where the breakfast

she had made that morning was now completely cold.

"I don't know what to do either. If they're gone, what meaning is there left in my life? I worked so hard, hoping to keep them alive, but they felt they were dragging me down and left on their own," she said.

Denise's voice choked as she continued, "Why was I so stupid? I didn't even notice anything different about them."

"Don't blame yourself. How could you possibly know everything?" Magnus consoled her.

He then thought for a moment and added, "Denise, wait for me. I'll find a way to search for your parents. Don't worry."

Denise didn't hold out much hope when she heard his promise, but she still nodded.

Magnus got up and went to the bedroom, where he took out his phone and called Cecilia.

Cecilia was still in Drocver then. Seeing Magnus' call, she hesitated for a moment before answering. "Hello. What's going on?"

"Cecilia, can you do me a favor?" Magnus asked.

Cecilia frowned, thinking that he wanted money. "What favor?"

"Can you help me locate two people?

I know your subordinate, Sven, is

very capable Can you ask him to help me find two people?" Magnus asked.

Cecilia was puzzled. "Who are you looking for?"

"My friend's parents," Magnus answered.
