chapter2117
Time flew by.
Not long after Cecilia returned to Tudela, Magnus brought Denise over.
When Cecilia saw the plainly dressed, somewhat nervous young woman standing before her, she immediately stood up and invited her to sit down.
"Come, have a seat. Don't be shy," Cecilia said gently.
Denise had previously imagined Cecilia to be a middle-aged, plump woman, but was surprised to find that the latter was both beautiful and young, nothing like the female CEOs described in the news.
"T-Thank you," Denise stammered nervously.
At that sight, Magnus held Denise's hand and led her to a chair. "Come on, don't be nervous. My sister is very nice."
Denise nodded, then handed the gift bag she was holding to Cecilia. It was an expensive set of skincare products, probably worth over ten thousand.
"Cecilia, I wasn't sure what to get you. This is a small token of my appreciation. Thank you for helping me find my parents," Denise said earnestly.
She knew that this gift might not be much to Cecilia, so she quickly added, "There's also a scarf inside; I knitted it myself. The weather's getting cold, so if it ever becomes of use to you, you can wear it."
"Okay." Cecilia accepted the gifts as she knew Denise would feel very uneasy if she didn't.
After a pause, she said, "But please don't buy me expensive skincare products in the future. The scarf you knitted for me is perfect; I like it a lot."
Cecilia knew Denise had to pay for Brycen and Calliope's treatment, which meant that she couldn't possibly spare any money to buy her gifts.
Cecilia was also aware that the cost of the set of skincare products was an astronomical figure to Denise-it was the best she could afford.
Denise nodded repeatedly, her gaze filled with even deeper gratitude toward Cecilia.
At the same time, she was very perplexed. Magnus' sister is completely different from him—not only is she beautiful, but she's also incredibly approachable.
"See? I told you my sister isn't a snob," Magnus said cheerily.
Denise nodded in response.
After the two of them sat down, Cecilia took a seat across from them.
Magnus brought up his plans for marriage. "Cecilia, you must come to my wedding."
Cecilia took a sip of water and replied, "Sure thing."
"But where are you planning to hold the wedding?" she then asked.
Magnus answered without thinking, "I want to hold the wedding at the Smith
residence. Is that okay?"
Holding the wedding at a hotel
ballroom would cost a lot of money,
and it might.
even be as uuxurious
and grand as holding it at the Smith
residence.
Denise had no idea that the Smith residence Magnus referred to had been lost by
him a long time ago and was now bought by Cecilia.
"I'm afraid that won't be possible." Cecilia's expression remained calm, but she uttered a refusal.
Magnus felt a little awkward as he hadn't expected Cecilia to refuse.
Since Denise was present, he spoke gently. "Cecilia, I just want to borrow it, and leave with Denise once the
wedding is over. The Smith"
residence is where I grew up, so t
have fond memories of it."
Cecilia knew what kind of person Magnus was. If she agreed this time, he would
make another request next time.
"Magnus, the Smith residence hasn't
been yours for a long time. You mortgaged it to the bank
remember? My husband bought the house back, and our family lives there now, so it's really inconvenient for you to hold your wedding there," she explained.
After a pause, she added, "If you really want to hold your wedding at the Smith residence, how about you go talk to my husband?"
At the mention of talking to Nathaniel, Magnus' face became increasingly strained.
He dared not look for Nathaniel.
Denise, sitting beside him, had roughly figured out the situation.
