Nicholas opened his contact list and saw the call the shop assistant had made to Jocelyn after he got drunk.

His mind was a tangled mess, and he felt the urge to act on impulse.

After what felt like an eternity, Nicholas finally dialed Jocelyn's number.

At that moment, Jocelyn was alone at the office. Yannick had dropped her off and left to deal with his own matters.

Seeing the call from Nicholas, she hesitated for a moment before answering.

"Mr. Rainsworth, is something the matter?" she asked.

Mr. Rainsworth? Nicholas was taken aback by the unfamiliar, formal address.

"Was it you who brought me to the hospital today?" he asked.

Jocelyn did not deny it. "It was me and Yannick. But it's all thanks to his help. I wouldn't have been able to carry you by myself."

Every sentence she spoke was laced with Yannick's name. Nicholas understood that she was deliberately reminding him that she was married to Yannick.

"Then please thank him for me," Nicholas said warmly.

"Sure. You don't have to worry about it. Yannick said that since we used to work together, we should help each other from time to time." Jocelyn's tone was polite yet distant.

She's bringing up Yannick again... Nicholas' mood became exceptionally heavy. "Jocelyn, I have something to tell you," he said.
