Chapter 2223

chapter2221

Power struggles plagued most wealthy clans, and the Lindberg family was no exception; undercurrents ran deep, and Sven had nearly lost his life once.

"Calvin, let it go sooner and find someone who can look after you," Sven urged again.

Calvin laughed. "I know. Relax, I moved on long ago."

Sven nodded.

Just then Charlotte stepped out. "Calvin."

Calvin turned to her. "Happy wedding. Grow old together."

"Thank you," Charlotte replied.

"I have to get back, so I won't stay. Goodbye."

Calvin spotted his driver arriving and spoke to them before getting in.

Charlotte and Sven watched him leave.

After he was gone, Charlotte sighed. "Calvin is such an outstanding man. It's a shame he hasn't found his match yet."

"That's just the way he is-single-minded," Sven said.

Charlotte let out a soft laugh. "You accuse everyone else of being stubborn, but from

where I'm standing, you're the stubborn one."

With his chin lowered, Sven studied her face. "Am I?"

"Of course you are."

Sven scratched the back of his head. "All right, I never noticed."

Charlotte curled her arm through his. "Come on, let's head home."

"Mm." Sven nodded again, quick and sure.

Together they strolled off, their paired backs surprisingly well matched.

Cecilia flew home with last night's chaos looping through her head.

She drifted into a light sleep, then jerked awake, forehead damp with sweat.

"Ceci, are you all right?" Vivian asked, alarmed by the fright stamped on her face.

Cecilia blinked, glanced at Vivian, and shook her head. "I'm fine."

Vivian wrapped her arms around her. "Bad dream? Lean on me and sleep."

Cecilia managed a helpless smile and rested against her, eyes closing again. They finally touched down in Tudela. Vivian nudged her gently. "Ceci, we've arrived."

Cecilia opened her eyes, surprised to find she'd actually rested.

"Mm, okay."

The group filed off the plane together.

Scanning the crowd, Vivian spotted a familiar figure and muttered, "That guy."

Cecilia followed her gaze and saw Zachary standing there with a baby in his arms.

After a

word to Cecilia,

hurried over. "Why'd you drag the baby out to the airport?" swnovers

Zachary frowned. "I came to pick you up."

"I never asked for a ride," Vivian shot back, rolling her eyes.

Zachary clicked his tongue. "And you're complaining? If I'd known, I'd have stayed home."

He gave a small huff, then spoke to the bundle in his arms.

"Magnus, your mom's unhappy with us. Let's go."

Vivian hurried after him. "I don't dislike my son-I dislike you."

Zachary ignored her and told the baby, "Magnus, Daddy looks after you every day while your mom just goes off having fun. When you're older, don't pay her any mind.

"Argh! Zachary, stop filling our son's head with nonsense!" Their playful squabble drew amused looks from nearby travelers.

Cecilia, Lucille, and Madeline stood back and laughed along.

"Mm." Madeline climbed in and was driven off.

That left only Lucille and Cecilia on the curb.

Lucille checked her watch. "What's taking Mason so long?"

"Relax. He's probably stuck in traffic," Cecilia said.

Lucille tilted her head. "Ceci, is Mr. Nathaniel coming to get you as well?"

Cecilia shook her head. "No. He's tied up at work. I told the driver to come."
